Making the Bahamas International Film Festival 2010 a reality

Nassau, Bahamas - The Bahamas International Film Festival, now in its 7th year will next take place from December 1st to 5th. Over the years you have heard, seen, experienced and been transformed by the magic of cinema, you have had the opportunity to network and meet numerous actors, filmmakers and celebrities. BIFF was created to enhance the international film industry culture, especially with our young people in mind. It was created to support the countrys filmmakers and to present to the Bahamas films that offer views of the world, and to introduce our country to filmmakers from around the world, with the aim of having them come back and shoot their films right here. BIFF provides premieres of crowd-pleasers and art house cinema. These are films that are thought provoking and expand our cine-literate culture. The beauty of going to the movies is you to be entertained and whilst learning about other societies and cultures. There is always a sense of mystic created when we celebrate cinema. Every year BIFF has built a setting for Bahamians and visitors and has provided Sun Sand Sea Cinema Culture and Celebrities during its December event. And we can become the Caribbean Cannes Film Festival and we can bring even more guests to our shores. There are over 6000 film festivals in the world, and during our festival we can again place OUR Riviera into the spotlight of the international festival circuit. People block out their calendars each year to visit film festivals around the world. We have the hotels, we have the Sun and the Sea and the film festival is another attraction that brings additional guests to us. In six years we have shown over 500 films, we have presented Career Achievement Tributes to celebrities such as Johnny Depp, Lawrence Fishburne, Daryl Hannah, Nicolas Cage and Roger Corman. We have created educational programs to teach film-making in schools around Nassau and assisted in the development of films such as RAIN and CHILDREN OF GOD. Also, 5 international films that have premiered at BIFF have gone on to win Academy Awards. And by doing this BIFF and the whole Bahamas have received worldwide international exposure and we were once again placed on the world map. BIFF has been a huge success attracting thousands of people each year, both local and international. In addition to the attendees the international press also came to our shores to record this quality event and a publicity of such magnitude would have cost in 2009 alone over 4 million dollars in advertisement with a PR value of about $ 15 million. But in order to do it again we need your support. Make the Bahamas International film festival a reality again, from the 1st to the 5th of December.
