Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - While The Bahamas Weekly News Team was attending Pelican Bay at Lucaya's annual Corporate Appreciation Night on October 22nd, we had the opportunity to interview  the Hon. Byron S. Woodside, MP, Minister of State for Land and Local Government to the Youth and Local Government.

In this informative interview, Mr. Woodside explains the workings of his portfolio and expresses his observations on the state of The Bahamian economy and the impact of the global recession on The Bahamas. Minister Woodside also responds to a general query pertaining to the potential benefits that might be derived by The Bahamas as a result of hosting the 2009 Miss Universe pageant.

Freeport, Grand Bahama, Bahamas - Pelican Bay at Lucaya held their annual Corporate Appreciation Night on October 22nd where they hosted their local business partners to an evening of food, drink and entertainment.

The Bahamas Weekly News Team is pleased to present herewith an on-location interview with Pelican Bay Sales and Marketing Director, Marva Monroe as she explains the reason for giving back to the corporate community that supports Pelican Bay at Lucaya. Mrs. Monroe also explains the key to the success of Pelican Bay at Lucaya who, during this period of deep recession actually experienced increased profits over this time during 2008.

Marva also goes through the present schedule of events open to the general public, which includes Funky Fridays, Jazzy Saturdays and more. These events feature live music and or DJs at Sabor Restaurant at the Lucaya Marina; just yards away from Port Lucaya Marketplace. Additionally, Marva provides a synopsis of what took place at their fourth annual corporate appreciation night.

Pelican Bay at Lucaya Corporate Appreciation Event 2009

Freeport, Grand Bahama, Bahamas - Pelican Bay at Lucaya held their annual Corporate Appreciation Night on October 22nd where they hosted their local business partners to an evening of food, drink and entertainment. The Bahamas Weekly News Team is pleased to present herewith a live solo saxophone performance by Bahamas leading woodwinds musician, Ralph Munnings along with photos taken at the gala by Robbin Whachell. The night began with cocktails and champagne by the Neptune pool, and then the group moved over to Pelican Bay's Canal House where an amazing display of cultural entertainment and young talent took place upon the buildings balconies even though it is still under construction. Kevin Tomlinson led the Grand Bahama Youth Choir into their performances providing a treat for those in attendance, the adjacent taxi stand, and passing tourists. With the use o lighting, trumpeters appeared and sounded in one area of the building, moving on to drummers appearing and beating in another area of the building, with the large choir group situated across the second floor veranda. After the choir performed the general manager of Pelican Bay at Lucaya, Magnus Alnebeck took the mic and spoke briefly thanking this guests for their continued partnerships. The choir descended to the ground floor and led the guests Junkanoo-rush-style through the parking lot and entrance way of Pelican Bay to end up around their other pool by Sabor Restaurant and Bar where Shelly Carey and Tru Music were performing Jazz melodies. The guests were treated to copious amounts of sumptuous appetizers by Sabor Restaurant and mixed, mingled or danced away the evening.

Hutchison Port Holdings CEO Chris Gray Confirms their Bid to Acquire The Shares of IDC LTD The Paren
