Paradise Island, The Bahamas - The 2011 Women's Empowerment Summit was held on April 27th at Atlantis and under the theme, "Embrace Your Power" and delivered inspiration, encouragement, and hope; along with acknowledging achievements made by women in the local arena as well as the Caribbean. The Bahamas Weekly News Team was on hand to bring you interviews from women who spoke at the Summit. In this video you will hear from Ms. Portia Davis-Harrigan , Summit Director; the Hon Paula A. Cox, Premier of Bermuda; the Hon. Loretta Butler-Turner, Bahamas Minister of State for Labour and Social Development; Hon Allyson Maynard-Gibson, Senator and President of the International Women's Forum; Her Excellency Nicole E. - I was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada July 10, 1960. This fact alone makes me a natural for my adopted country, July 10th is Bahamian Independence Day! Shortly after graduating from university I packed my bags for The Bahamas. I arrived in 1988 to teach for the Bahamian government. After spending 13 years in the teaching profession, I decided to expand my horizons and jumped into the exciting world of real estate.
