Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas - On November 7th, 2009, the newly appointed US Ambassador to The Bahamas, Her Excellency Nicole A. Avant visited Grand Bahama as a special guest of the 10th annual Red Rose Ball. The ball is organized by a committee whose mission, along with the Grand Bahama AIDS Awareness Committee, is to bring awareness on HIV/AIDS. Their message is Prevention Now! This was Ambassador Avant's first trip to Grand Bahama Island and her first ball in The Bahamas. Her Excellency was accompanied by Jeff Dubel , Chief , Political/Economic/Public Diplomacy/Commercial Section.
